About Us

The YBC is a member of the National Association of Youth Bowling Clubs and the league is sanctioned by the BTBA. The YBC was formed to introduce youngsters to tenpin bowling and to teach them the techniques and skills of the sport.

The Tunbridge Wells Youth Bowling Club, or TWYBC as it is commonly known has been going for several years now. It is held at Bowlplex in Tunbridge Wells, which was opened in December 1998. It has 24 lanes on which we bowl in league format (i.e. on 2 lanes per match). We have over 30 bowlers of all abilities and ages.

We play as a doubles league every Saturday morning. Each week one of the teams in rotation will have coaching on a 1:1 basis on lanes 1 & 2. The league plays in handicap format and at the end of the season trophies are given out to all our bowlers.

The league is held every Saturday morning at 09:30 until 11:00 and costs £6-50. Anyone from about 8 to 18 years can join and can receive coaching from our BTBA qualified instructors, Peter Leeke, Chris Milgate, Glyn Turley and Graham Milgate.

After the league bowling there is the option of further coaching or practice, the coaching is free though we pay £6 per hour for the use of each lane.

We have now started a YAC league for bowlers aged 16-24, which bowls at 11:30. This too is set up in handicap format and is run in a similar principle to the YBC.

If you would like to find out more please feel free to come along and try for yourself.
